Recloose
Guess what, Detroit native Matthew Chicoine aka Recloose’s third album is out on Sonar Kollektiv, and no one on the blogosphere is talking about it according to hype machine.
Raw Artistic Soul
I’ve been on a soulful jazzy house tip for some time because of this stormer called “You got rhyhtm too”. It seems Mr. Phil Kullmann better known as Raw Artistic Soul has gotten all the better parts of Latin, Afro Beat, Funk & Dub and put it into a warm soulful house album. Released by Gogo Music, this album has some guest musicians & vocalists.
House selection February

After the Larry Heard post, it’s about time I get a few selected house tracks off my “feature it” directory. The Haaksman & Haaksman remix of Stereotyp’s Keepin’ Me is as massive as it gets, with a muted guitar at the back, female vocals and a funky steppa rhythms, I’m pretty much sure this is one of the biggest dance tunes I’ve listened this year. Newcomer Sam Irl’s track is a likeminded soulfool afrobeat inspired steppa on Pulver.
I normally don’t like tech house at all, but Natural Rhythm’s jazzy tech house is something I can more than tolerate. Buscemi’s Bollywood inspired vocal track gets refined by Solo Moderna while Frankman gives us a refined deep but driving minimal tune with sax & rhodes. Finally Langoth’s Grounding is not really a house tune but jazzy hiphop in the vein of old Ninja Tune. It reminds me of some tune that I can’t put my finger on and watch that great keychange in the chorus part!
PS : I’ve found it, (at least the tune I was thinking, let’s see if you think I’m sure, I’ve added it as well.)
Buy Sam Irl - African Dance from Clickgroove.
Buy Stereotyp - Keepin’ Me from Soul Seduction.

Moondog - House selection
As always some carefully handpicked deep vocal house singles, on the latin tip with Rita Quintero’s “Quiero Saber” on Deep Haven, and a bit on the refined European minimal house side on Drei Farben House’s “Close Enough”.
House Mix November Part 2
We’ll begin the second part of this 3 part mix with the overlooked Re:Jazz remix compilation from 2004. The first track by one of my favourite artists Nicola Conte, is a classic Conte song with uptempo bass and bossanova, and as if it wasn’t enough there’s another delicious remix by RAS.
House mix November Part 1
It’s been a long time since we’ve done a deep/vocal house selection, and meanwhile there’s been some incredible output which usually only makes their ways to DJs’ cases. Here’s a carefully picked selection.
Osunlade presents Yoruba Records
NYC’s Yoruba Records is 5 years old! and here is a double cd compilation by label boss Osunlade to celebrate this great occasion. Artists such as Ebbo, Franck, Nadirah Shakoor, Kb and Osunlade himself have some great tracks on this one. Afro inspired Deep & Soulful US House music with vocals and tribal beats, make up most of the songs and they would be highly suitable for office or pool parties as I’m sure some latino percussion and shakers would turn everyone into dance monsters. If you’re bored of the dark side’s senseless and soulless house music, prepare for an other dimension of quality house music.

Marie St. James - Closer I get (Lounge Mix)Pirahnahead
I’ve first heard of Detroit based producer Maurice Herd aka Pirahnahead with an EP on Moodymann’s Mahogani Records and later on a vocal house track with singer Diviniti and his soulful deep house music has always managed to capture my attention. This time he’s on Mahogani Music with his debut CD “Solid (A moment) in the mind of Pirahnahead” which includes the 2004 hit Dreams and more tracks in the vein of his boss Moodymann or the UK house collective The Rurals. Warm rhodes / guitar licks on urban downtempo and house beats and silky vocals. This is truly a no filler urban soundtrack album for your luxury home.
