#85 is a solo work by yours truly. It’s darker than our usual sets due perhaps to my turbulent mood. It’ll work good as soundtrack to an urban night drive. Motorik by Beak>, doom jazz by Mini Pops Junior, moody indie rock and even some dubstep at the final. A dark cinematic ride to nowhere. Enjoy!

Bu kısaca bahsedeceğim grup ise; Ulver grubunun konser turunda, Şubat’ta İngiltere ayağında destekleyeceği gruplardan. Necro Deathmort. Tarzları için çok şey söyleyebilirim. Doom metal, drone, doom, dub, noise, ambient gibi türlerin karışımından oluşmuş etkileyici bir müzikleri var; bu gruba dikkat çekmek isterim! Albümdeki tüm parçaları tam uzunlukta lastfm üzerinden dinleyebilirsiniz..

Son parça, gene beni bu hafta oldukça oyalayan gruplardan, ismiyle de ilgi çeken Yoga. Atmosferik bir yapı, psychedelic müziğin sakinliği, derin ve içten gelen gürültüler, drone, noise, doom ve black metalin mükemmel uyumu. Kesinlikle dinlenmesi gereken bir grup. Örnek vereceğimiz parçanın bulunduğu Megafauna albümüne de lastfm üzerinden erişmeniz mümkün.

Umarım biraz karanlık da olsa, seçtiğim parçaları beğenirsiniz. Haftalık serinin ilgi görmesi ve devam etmesi dileğiyle. Herkese iyi dinlemeler.

Frankly I downloaded Barn Owl’s latest LP, because I thought I was downloading Bone Awl. Now there are some similarities between the two outfits; both are noisy and ominous. But the obvious lack of black metal, and the fact that there are a few earthy drones on San Francisco collective’s first full length ‘From Our Mouths A Perpetual Light’ made me realize that I had failed. And thank serendipity for that, otherwise this little gem from 2008 might have been lost amidst the tides of new stuff washing upon our shores.

If you’re familiar with labels like Not Not Fun, Root Strata or Foxglove you already know what to expect from Barn Owl: lots of fuzzy guitar processing, ritualistic slow doom, psychedelic folk and mournful drones shifting and evolving into complex soundscapes. The downside with ‘experimental’ releases like this one is that, most are not ready for prime-time because the experimentations never blossom. Fortunately Barn Owl’s Not Not Fun story is different and is an instant fav. Drummer Mike Bailey also plays his part in baking a cathartic sludgy edge on some pieces, which adds to the overall diversity. Well prepared and well done, Barn Owl’s ‘From Our Mouths A Perpetual Light’ is a keeper, they will be touring Europe in April, so take notice.

Tranced-out psych studies are the order of the day, and wielding an arsenal of guitars, harmonium, harmonica, rhodes and synthesizer, this quartet (well, there are four of them this time around – apparently they have a floating, variable roster of chums to call upon) tap into some creepy pagan atmospheres, and ceremonial drones on a slab of vinyl that’s as white as their death cult robes. Have to give it to Lawrence, he’s one of the last remaining electronic & minimal house producers who can put out albums that are consistent as a full length, suitable for home listening and musically satisfying, and we’ve overlooked his newest album “Until then, goodbye”. German producer Peter Kersten has been active since the beginning of the 2000s with releases on his own Dial, as well as the kult Ladomat 2000, and remixes on a dearth of labels like Kompakt and Italic both as Lawrence and as Sten. After countless releases he’s truly matured as a composer of dark minimal soundscapes occasionally sprinkled with melodies from vibes and glockenspiel. Read a good track by track analysis on Resident Advisor and give him a spin if you’re looking for that one minimal house/techno/electronic album that won’t bore you to death.

A Lawrence album is a rare thing in dance music; in that it contains rivulets of soul and melancholy that permeate the gorgeous open spaces afforded by his spartan arrangements. That’s not to say that soul and melancholy aren’t rare in this genre, but to have them intertwine with each other with such delicious ease is. Bleep43

Three of the best dubsteps I’ve heard recently. Hessle Audio boss Ramadanman aka Pearson Sound’s Gambetta is a fresh cross between percussive minimal house and bass heavy dubstep. Out on Soul Jazz. 2562’s Love in outer space is a venture into dark matter/energy. Finally check out Scots Mungos Hifi if you haven’t heard of them before. Many stuff for grabs at Scotch Bonnet.

Massive darkstep track from UK’s N-Type. Wobbly bass on top of sci-fi audio samples and a sinister aura, just what you want from a dubstep track. Out on Black Acre.

Hate to lead you to think Caspa and Distance has made a track together. Just two dark, metallic and wobbly bass tracks for you to enjoy straight off London. Caspa’s “Low Blow” is off his Everybody’s Talking, Nobody’s Listening album. Dark and repetitive with occasional bits of diversity thrown on a few tracks. Distance’s “Night Vision” gets the remix treatment from Skream, very powerful. Out as Mu-ziq 219.
