dark
Caspa & Distance
Hate to lead you to think Caspa and Distance has made a track together. Just two dark, metallic and wobbly bass tracks for you to enjoy straight off London.
Bela Emerson
Bela belongs to this new creed of daring musicians like Fennesz & Aidan Baker who take their instruments further by processing it with an array of loops and effects. On Hespera she succeeds in creating experimental yet organic soundscapes with her cello and multiple pedals.
Bird from the Abyss
Debut EP from Finnish composer Bird from the Abyss is one of the most sinister & unholy ritual music you’ll be hearing these days. It’s released for free on archive.org but you can also buy a limited CDR from him for 5 bucks.
Darkstep
It’s safe to continue with a little bit of darkness, and one of the darkest breeds of music is UK’s dubstep. It’s surprising because darkness is more or less equated with noise and guttural voices, yet dubstep freaks continue to provide darkness remaining clear cut and non distorted. Creepy.
RIP James Graham Ballard
Here’s a musical selection in his honour and a few obits and stuff, the music is supposedly Ballardian which is an adjective coined in his honour meaning “dystopian modernity, bleak man-made landscapes and the psychological effects of technological, social or environmental developments”. Expect the music to be quite dystopic and dark. R.I.P Ballard the godfather of dystopia and cyberpunk.

False Gods
Out as the third release on Germany’s Shoreless Records bvdub’s Prayer to False Gods is apocalyptic and doom ridden, with waves of melancholy and accompanying images of a dead nature. 5 tracks of desolate soundscapes with occasional layers of doomy strings and at times fuzzy noises. Don’t touch this one if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere or are enjoying a day of sun! Rest of the world drench in it.
Drones on the High Seas
The electronic soundscape / noise / ambient / drone scene is burgeouning with great releases these days whether they be CDs or CDRs and casettes on small labels. Prepare to get terrorised by Teeth of the Sea, I am Seamonster, Mountains, Lawrence English and Meczup.
