Nottingham’s Friendly Fires is an indie/dance band that has officially managed to get my interest. I’ve always avoided these hipster party stuff since nu-rave = nu-metal for me. Alas Friendly Fires seems to have find the perfect formula for the genre with two golden tracks not unlike Bloc Party’s first album of formulaic indie.

* Sir Salvatore, is playful indie with a clean pop style from SF.
* 65daysofstatic the 4 piece electropostrock band from Sheffield, UK
* Infants have chaotic Hella like beats mixed with the furiousity of Atari Teenage Riot with a messier sound.
* Beta Valentine is from Austin, TX.

We’re definitely into this senseless electro-pop god-knows-whatever hybrid from Brasil’s Bonde Do Rolê. Their “Solta o Frango EP” on Open Field has carved its name in my head instantly with the first track. (well at least I can still remember it starts with B, and I wonder how the ê is pronounced.)

“You might smell like vanilla, but you’re still a gorilla!” …
One of the best chorus hooks I’ve heard recently, thanks to Kudu on Ilhan Ersahin’s Nublu label. This is a raw electropopish dance track with Sylvia’s clever vocal line and lovely melody that carves itself instantly in your mind. This track is off their new album “Death of the Party“, and their dirty and energetic urban dance music has already begun shaping NY’s nightlife.
