The Souljazz Orchestra
Canadian afrobeat upcomers Souljazz Orchestra has a new offering on our favorites Strut, called Rising Sun. It’s safe to say that the orchestra hasn’t reached that fine point of diversity until Rising Sun which effectively marks them as a soulful afro/jazz combo.
Soirée
Just received this one from Bear Funk. Soirée, labelowner Stevie Kotey’s new project with Max Essa is a real beast that fuses all the good bits from balearic house, disco, funk and anything soulful.
Nite Jewel
I’ve been playing the new 12” from Italians do it better a lot in the last days, shame I forgot to blog about it. An amazing cosmic balearic slow disco by Nite Jewel. This must be the disco reply to hazy lo-fi surf stuff that’s become a huge trend this year.
Ras G
One of the deservedly hottest things in music right now is hands down Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder imprint. If you’ve been sleeping under a rock, Flying Lotus and colleagues have been feeding us nuschool instrumental beats which owe much to electronic music as much as everything hip-hop generally gets inspired off.
Gong & Exclusive Mix!
Our first ever exclusive mix, done by Can and me, for the Manchester based peddler-of-all-things-cosmic the unsurpassable Cosmic Disco blog which we frequently mention in our sideblog, is online. Plus a classic spacey Gong track up for grabs.
Loud-E & Tako
This months SOAP Kozmo nite will be starring, two highly respected DJ’s DJs from Amsterdam. Rard Laudy aka Loud-E and Tako. Their own eclectic brand of cosmic disco, house and spacey afro beats and 70’s porngrooves is called Discoine and they’ve been DJing since the 90’s, lately though alongside Lovefingers, Tim Sweeney, DJ Harvey and Lindstrom they’re named more and more since cosmic disco hits the mainstream.
Desert Boots
In anticipation of any/all music lovers that might make their way via cosmicdisco, we quickly selected a few pieces that will hopefully intrigue the the cosmic connoisseurs in pleasant ways. Escape from New York, Nick Ayoub & DJ Mitsu’s remix of Cro-Magnon.
Astro Can Caravan
From Jimi Tenor to Alamaailman Vasarat, the Fins have a monopoly on bizarre music. I’ve always wondered the reason to their connection with Sun-Ra’s cosmic vibes resulting in the maddest alchemy of orchestral jazz, noise and progressive rock.
