compost
Soundcloud stalk
Mixes from Brownswood Recordings, UK’s Hint and Christian Prommer, covering a whole lot of urban deep & soulful dance beats.
Mark de Clive-Lowe & The Politik
The Politik on Milan Records is the brainchild of the keyboard extraordinaire Mark de Clive-Lowe and his longtime vocal partner, Bémbé Ségué. If you’re into nu-jazz ala Compost or even into the Cafe del Mar series, chances are you have already heard of this guy as his tracks have graced more than 100 releases.
Christian Prommer’s Drumlesson
Making covers of well known stuff are almost always a good catch. However getting to do a cover album of the greatest electronic anthems ever straight on is a mammoth task. Simply for the fact that these are really the biggest electronic anthems ever and you don’t have the chance to go wrong.
Part 2 : Top 42-36
* Les Savy Fav – Let’s stay Friends (Frenchkiss) : So I submitted to indie hypster art rock shit with the Brooklyn indierockers Les Savy Fav. Their uptempo indie stomp is catchy as well, filling in the shoes of last years Bloc Party for me.
* Pjusk – Sart (12K): Barren drony soundscapes from Norway by the duo of Jostein Dahl Gjelsvik and Rune Sagevik.
Soil & Pimp Sessions – Pimp Master
They’re both Japanese. Let’s just get that fact out of our way at once. Why oh why are japanese so good with jazz? It’s probably the same as electronics. They take revenge from the western world by doing the things they take from westerners better than the west. Yes, don’t be fooled by their smiling toy faces, Japs are mean little bastards when it comes to jazz.
General Electrics
Great EP on Compost by the French keyboardist Hervé Salters aka General Electrics. 4 original songs and 2 remixes on this one. The Compost website labels his music as Sunday Morning goodness and it really feels good to listen to these tracks on a sunday morning like this.
