Pedro Pedreiro
For some reason listened to this one three times in a row, and now off to the fourth time because I found the lyrics. Timeless Chico Buarque composition sung by the ladies of Quarteto em Cy. Off their self titled album from 1966.
In the mailbox : Nov ‘09 Part 2
Squeezed out of our inbox in the last couple of weeks, this two part edition for Nov 09 has some great tunes. The second part contains more beats be it electronic or otherwise. Ernest Gonzales, Aficionado, Ithamara Koorax covers Joao Gilberto, Protassov
Tristesse Tropiques
Collaboration between Ozgur Uckan and me, in honour of Claude Lévi-Strauss who passed away recently aged 101. Features music from Brasil, Angola, Hawaii, Egypt & Cuba, more or less around the tropics, and almost exclusively sad.
Undomondo Radio Show #79
The in-house gag about this show was that we were ready to work at the BRT (a fictional state owned radio station from Brasil that resembles our TRT) simply because it never wanders off brasileira & exotica, albeit a few breathers of downtempo jazz from Cecil Taylor and Marc Copland. Play this on sunny afternoons.
Caminhos Cruzados
These two amazing Brasileira off their 1981 album Caminhos Cruzados – where they sing songs from Edu & Fernando Lobo, Antonio & Paulo Jobim, Dorival & Danilo Caymmi – should serve as a teaser for our upcoming radio show #79.
In the Mailbox / Summer
Collection of a few months of promo material that materialized in our inbox. Otto, Omo, Seams’ Bibio remix, Nutrition on Tape EP, Bluermutt, Aldo Vanucci’s new beats & breaks release on Bastard Jazz and Brooklyn improv jazz combo Father Figures.
Undomondo Radio Show 78
#78 sees error101 back from real life duties to select the material. If you remember her idiosyncratic blend of exotica, brasileira, jazz, soul and funk, you’re guaranteed to enjoy this one.
