AFTA-1 x Gas’d
Done in conjunction with the GAS-D , features beats from usual suspects like Dilla, Platinum Pied Pipers, Dam Funk as well as relatively unknown artists and of course AFTA-1 himself. Great sluggish hip-hop to bop your head to on sunny weather and stoned minds.
Paul White
Our new fave producer after his Fader Mix with close companion Bullion, UK beatmaker Paul White has just released his debut LP “The Strange Dreams of Paul White” which marryies everything we love from prog rock to BBC samples, with quirky beats and Brit humour.
Ghostly Swim
Thanx to yesterday’s tweet tip by Lucas Gonze here’s an amazing free download Ghostly International compo for Adult Swim featuring the who’s who of contemporary electronic music.
Pet Sounds In The Key Of Dee
Big up for the English dj/producer Bullion for this great Beach/Dilla project. The ‘66 Beach Boys album reinterpreted with Dilla’s arsenal of beats is a soundly cohesive clash of giants, reminiscent of Dangermouse’s Beatles mash-ups.
Ras G
One of the deservedly hottest things in music right now is hands down Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder imprint. If you’ve been sleeping under a rock, Flying Lotus and colleagues have been feeding us nuschool instrumental beats which owe much to electronic music as much as everything hip-hop generally gets inspired off.
The Time & Space Machine
The Time & Space Machine is part of the UK school of psychedelic revivalism contrasting the psych^noise work that I’ve talked about yesterday. The man behind the time machine, Richard Norris, is famed for being one half of Beyond the Wizard’s Sleeve and his debut LP weaves a trippy sonic nest of psychedelic beats, groove and fuzz guitar.
Mixes Week 16
A few hiphop/house/downtempo mixes found around the net & twitterscape that’d rock a sunny day like we have today. Mixes from Gaslamp Killer, Exile, Flying Lotus, Headhunter, Linkwood & House of Traps, Onra and our own Kabus Kerim and Cenk Akyol inside!
Error Broadcast
Yesterday @tokafi mentioned two of our favourite netlabels Zymogen and 12Rec has founded a new label called Error Broadcast and they’ve released their first label compilation called Bag of Nothingness that spans across 17 songs of abstract, instrumental hip-hop.
