Jonny Trunk : Scrapbook
Jonny Trunk is the man behind Trunk Records, home to the amazing Moon Wiring Club and in the general direction of the Ghost Box clique. He has also been the broadcaster of Resonance.fm’s OST for the past 6 years, which is a heaven for all diggers of soundtracks and library music.
Paul White
UK beatfreak Paul White has just released a free download beats EP on Bandcamp (can’t say how much I love this site!). The second side coming next week will also be free download. Don’t miss this one if you’re into the UK psychbeats stuff like Bullion, Lukid, Lone etc. And somebody tell me which classical piece was Ultra Violet was sampled off.
Paul White
Our new fave producer after his Fader Mix with close companion Bullion, UK beatmaker Paul White has just released his debut LP “The Strange Dreams of Paul White” which marryies everything we love from prog rock to BBC samples, with quirky beats and Brit humour.
Leila
Iran born Londoner Leila Arab released her third album Blood, Looms and Blooms on Warp a few months ago. Ending an 8 year drought her third albums sees usual suspects Roya Arab and Luca Santucci lend her vocal talents, as well as guests Terry Hall and Martina Topley Bird.
Diesler Live in Istanbul
Our UK friend Jonathan Radford aka Diesler just hit us a few days ago with a sampler from his recent work. Here’s The Jazzinvaders remix of his track ‘Revelations‘ featuring the vocals of Laura Vane. He’ll be playing live with his ensemble today in Istanbul. Enjoy and check them out if you’re in town.
Atjazz
One of our favourite deep house producers, UK’s Martin Iveson aka Atjazz has a new one under his belt called Full Circle. As the Co-founder and head of Mantis Recordings (Rhythm Plate, Brooks) has been on the forefront of jazzy UK deep house for ages. Operating from Derby he’s been producing a steady supply of deep house beats mixed with electric soul stuff & downbeat.
Part 5 : 15 – 10
15 Battles – Mirrored (Warp Records) : Everybody’s been talking about “Mirrored” this year, and they kind of deserve it for getting their oddtimed dissonant music to find strange acclaim from mainstream circles as well as mathheads.
14 Deejay OM – Reheated Naan and Curry (Galapagos4) : A fine hybrid of Indian samples mixed with beats. Somehow liked it much more than Madlib’s take. Past
Lukid
Londoner Lukid has made the perfect stay at home at hot weather music for people who are stoned and only able to headbop. There’s all kind of deep, jazzy influences, dusty beats & textures and cut-up samples galore. Almost everything I look for in electronic music that’s bordering on hiphop. If you were into Jan Jelinek’s “Loop Finding Jazz Records (which is one of the alltime best electronic albums) or Prefuse 73 stuff you’ll be loving “On and On”.
