Back from our one-week vacation. Couldn’t post anything in the meantime but never stopped to think about our fellow readers while basking in the hot sun and selected some tunes that should accompany you on your future trips to the beach.

It’s been a while I haven’t post any jazz mixes. Here is a new one, with the excitement of going back home to Turkey for summer holiday, after two years. So the vibe is warm and positive. Classic, instrumental, vocal and contemporary jazz; all blended equally. Pleasure is guarantee to a wide audience! Today’s story is about Ottawa’s groovy Souljazz Orchestra. Now we all know Ottawa is the capital of Canada, and Canada’s primary export is multiculturalism. I’m just kidding!. The Turkish education system never teaches you cool stuff like this, I learnt this by myself on the internet.

In this not so new-but one of the most highly acclaimed albums of this summer so far, Jimi plays the sweet surprise factor as always. I don’t know if it’s because of his broad friend circle of Finnish jazz musicians or the fact that he enjoys dressing like Zeki Müren, or simply because he’s a damn good musician with an open mind, he never loses the surprise factor, always open to experimentation and versatile without losing his own jazzy essence.

* Well known avantgarde jazz guitarist Marc Ribot and other musicians were protesting the closing of world famous experimental / indie / avantgarde music venue Tonic, NYC by showing up for an improvised concert while the workers dismantled the stage!

Mr. Texier is one of France’s well known contemporary jazz musicians especially with his partnership with Aldo Romano and Louis Sclavis, which I’ve talked about before here.
