Stacy Epps
Atlanta soul sister Stacy Epps just grabbed attention thanks to Gilles Peterson’s evercool selection on Brownswood Bubblers. Her soulful vocals on Floatin’ are a big highlight of this wonderful compilation.
A little bit of history 3
Continuing to re-up previous material from undomondo history, here are tracks from the Sami folk band Adjagas, last years phenomenal math-prog outfit Battles, German electronic pop artist Marbert Rocel, a cheerful Arabic song by Pink Martini and more
In the mailbox: Sep 2008
More good stuff that hit our mailboxes in September were:
* Release no.7 from Munich based Jazz & Milk records.
* 3rd album from UK based composer and singer Simon Bookish.
* 40th release on the Italian Dharmasound netlabel.
A lil bit of history 2
Been working on undomondo redesign since the morning, don’t have the energy to write a post, therefore fixed a few broken links and that’s it for today. Deep soulful music from 2007 still fresh..
A lil bit of history
A few days ago, I’ve found a great wordpress plugin to check broken links and edit them from the dashboard. There are many broken links thanks to instable free hosts that has gone down with our files. I know it’s frustrating to hit them once in a while as a reader.
End of summer selection
Here’s a 4 song selection suitable for sunny summer/early autumn days. Starts off with one of the alltime best soul pieces; Gil Scott-Heron’s timeless Lady Day & John Coltrane from his 1971 Pieces of a Man album.
Calypsoul 70
Strut Records the !K7 sublabel who gave us the Nigeria 70 compilation a few months ago is back with a new compilation from the same time period in a new setting : Calypsoul 70: Caribbean Soul 1969-1979.
Netlabels : Various
A post that’s been sitting in draft for so long that I’ve forgotten about the music. So caveat emptor, a selection of tracks from various netlabels -which I won’t be able to link right now- spanning electronic music and hiphop.
