The father of silky smooth soul and r&b Teddy Pendergrass passes away aged 59 BBC reports: He was the first black male singer to record five consecutive multi-platinum albums in the US.

Pitchfork and others report that the enigmatic guitarist Jack Rose has passed away after a heart attack aged 38.

For our precious friend Emre Yerlikhan babel whom we lost today at the ripe age of 34. A devout literary fanatic and a bright mind, his place won’t be filled. May his ideas & ideals live on through his friends, and may he rest in peace.

I’ve tweeted about the loss of Celer’s Dani “Chubbs” Baquet-Long on Monday, but I couldn’t find some time to make a proper post because of the our vacation. This Southern California couple were very talented blissful drone/soundscape makers and all around artists into literature, poetry and philosophy etc. and they were quite prolific.

With great sadness we announce you the passing of one of the greatest musicians ever, the Bengali Indian sarod master, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, aged 87. He was one of the last remnants of an age of true musicianship, virtue and wisdom.

Here’s a musical selection in his honour and a few obits and stuff, the music is supposedly Ballardian which is an adjective coined in his honour meaning “dystopian modernity, bleak man-made landscapes and the psychological effects of technological, social or environmental developments”.
