Nothing makes me more happy than a new Holy Sons album. Out next month on Thrill Jockey.
"Holy Sons is Emil Amos, a musician whose chameleonic tendencies and technical versatility has lead to him becoming an in demand multi-instrumentalist as a founding member of Grails and Lilacs & Champagne, as well as a member of Om and a hired gun for Jandek, to name a few."
Eyvind Kang - Hakem From Alastor: ‘Book of Angels’ Vol. 21 (Tzadik 8316; USA)
World traveler, nomad, mystic and violist, Eyvind Kang has created several of the most wildly creative CDs on Tzadik. Here he turns his hand to 10 tunes from Zorn’s remarkable Book of Angels. Featuring spectacular orchestral arrangements and brilliant studio techniques, Eyvind has put together a CD unlike anything on the Angels series, highlighting the spiritual side of the Angels project, the singular lyricism of Zorn’s compositions and his own richly inventive musical imagination.
Innercity Ensemble‘s II is a study in black and white, but in these improvisations the colors are not always what one might expect. Each entry comes across as a riff on a theme. The contrast yields to synthesis, much in the same way as a yin-yang symbol swirls opposing forces until they seem complimentary. A Closer Listen

The new solo record by Mountains member (and longtime Other Music friend) Koen Holtkamp displays his well-established blend of analogue synth, trippy folk and gentle Krautrock elements, filled with arpeggio-heavy, cosmic synth/acoustic tracks that touch on Terry Riley, Cluster/Roedelius and other spiritually leaning synth luminaries.
'Disruptive Pattern Material' is a truly cinematic experience, an epic journey through sound, space and time, a revolutionary approach to deep house and an exemplary take on music production in general. Phonica

The Budos Band return with Burnt Offering; a wild, booze-fueled ride of hazy riffs, take-no-prisoners horn lines and relentless percussion that summons the occult – an evolved sound for this mighty 10-piece band sparked by their love of Black Sabbath and Pentagram. Daptone.
For this album, I used different kinds of instruments, but I wanted to keep music very simple: little melodies and cassette tapes, some of them from 30 years ago that I found lying on the streets of my city, Buenos Aires. I hope you will enjoy this wander to the Emerald Pond.
"valley girl was inspired by the agriculture and landscapes of oakland, california and its horizon of rolling hills. the peaks and valleys of the album’s landscape are made of fifteen computer generated tones that cycle through melodies driven by ambisonic surround-sound locations to define space."
