Trus’me in Istanbul

Mancunian David James Wolstencroft aka Trus’me is our second minimuzikhol guest from abroad. His brand of refined house, soul and funk has caught the ears of everyone from Gilles Peterson who chose his debut the best album of 2007 and said “If there was ever a house record made for me, it would sound like this.” to Mr. Scruff, Jazzanova, Ashley Beedle and Kenny Dixon Jr. His second album In the Red was issued in December on his own Prime Numbers and Fat City. It’s more polished than his debut Working Nights, and is on the more soulful side, thanks to neosoul kings like Amp Fiddler and Paul Randolph who lend their vocal talents and the use of acoustic instrumentation, as opposed to samples. His DJ sets, which resemble those of Theo Parrish and Moodymann, range from the funky to the soulful and to dancefloor burners, with a whole lot of of Chicago and Detroit influence. Be there, this saturday.
