It’s not an unusual thing for a creative person to be interested in creativity. People who grew up at the time that I did, in the ’60s, we loved all different musics. We loved rock, we loved jazz, we loved classical, we loved world music. We had a hunger for anything new. We’d make little mix tapes on cassette that had all these different styles of music. That was like a very special thing. We’d play them at parties. Now, that’s normal, that’s the iPod shuffle. Everybody listens that way now. So in that sense, we have really succeeded. It’s like our generation, our kind of impetus of loving all these different things, that is kind of the new way to listen to music.

+ Mixes by Brit producers Bullion and Paul White on Fader Magazine (via @mrbeatnick), and also Paul White’s One Eye Open EP via @shookmag

+ Madlib – Sacrifice & The Vaselines – Son of a gun (covered by Nirvana if you remember) (via @larecord / LA Record)

+ And last but not least, Marnie Stern the lovable mathrock/indie guitarist from NYC is playing live today @ Babylon Istanbul. We’ll be there trying to singalong and shred our airguitars. Here’s an interview from last year by Matthew Perpetua of fluxblog
