Hate to start posts with a reference to weather but you already know that it’s the biggest determinant of our musical agenda. The gentle breeze and the shining sun is signalling once again that we have conquered the winter -hopefully- and Italian singer songwriter Giorgio Tuma’s sophomore album “My Vocalese Fun Fair” – although released in January – is the perfect soundtrack to spring and the lazy, love filled days it provides.

I’ll be lifting the best possible review to this from the label in a moment but one thing I have to say is that I’ve been yearning for simple and honest songwriting like this since 2006’s Mountaineer album. So if you dig the spring, spending your last 12euros on this one might make you pretty happy.

Starting with fibers as solid as the delicacy of Caetano Veloso at his most Bahian, the elegance of Burt Bacharach, the jazzy approximations of Antonio Carlos Jobim, the circus-like psychedelia of the BEATLES at their highest, the Californian soft pop and a touch of sweet soul in the style of Terry Callier or Marvin Gaye, Giorgio Tuma builds a source of imagination with “My Vocalese Fun Fair” that makes his inseparable band mates, OS TUMANTES (as a tribute to the Brazilian psychedelic pop group OS MUTANTES), reach their highest level.
