Always late to write about the stuff that’s snowballing in our mailbox. Not much to write home about but managed to find some that’s worth your attention hopefully.
+ Forgot to write about the new UK supergroup Stonephace’s album on Tru Thoughts. Fronted by Portishead guitarist Adrian Utley veteran jazz saxophonist Larry Stabbins, Stonephace creates a modern day fusion of afrobeat meets psychedelic soul and cosmic jazz.
+ L.A. based instrumental rock quintet Beware of Safety’s release their epic post-rock album Dogs. I am not to keen on listening to dreamy and sentimental post-rock, but theyre good.
+ Massachusets indie/folk band The Frost Heaves present their debut on Algorhythm Records.
+ Polish musician Borys Dejnarowicz has an offkilter orchestral pop album called Divertimento, which has quite enough repetitions to be labeled Reichesque yet not enough dissonance and experimentation to induce restlesness.
Beware of Safety – Step or Stone
Dejnarowicz – Part Three
The Frost Heaves – Shepherd of Lost Shopping Carts
