Here’s an exquisite mix from one of Istanbul’s earliest cratediggers, a musical teacher and soul brother DJ Ismet whom we lost by the end of 2004. He was a close friend and a collaborator of Baris K. for 6 years with their Saturn radioshow on Acik Radyo and this special mixtape from 2001 was digitized by Baris himself. The first tape is 80 minutes of roots reggae, jamaican soul and dub, yet he was famed to be a versatile digger in many different genres like 80’s electro, funk and soul. The second one is the famed mix from Godet Istanbul, which Ricardo Villalobos was rumoured to listen at the afterhours. R.I.P. Ismet.
