Two years after we reviewed Gangpol & Mit’s “The Hopelessly Sad Story of the Hideous end of the World“, we have their new project “Carton Park” in our hands. Working together with Ponpoko Records bosses Mami Chan and Norman Bambi this one is “especially intended for kiddies, this new record opens the gates of the Carton Park, cardboard playground directly built to satisfy hardcore entertainment addicts frenzy.”
Like their previous efforts, Carton Park is a nutbag of children’s tunes, synth noises and candy ravers. It’s probably more catchy and structured without losing the crazy. Also the addition of Mami Chan and Norman Bambi’s vocals help wrapping the brain around the music better, since previously the vocals were mainly instrumental distortions. Out on the French Ponpoko Records, too bad it’s already sold out. And also I understand that just listening to Gangpol&Mit’s music doesn’t do them justice without seeing their audiovisual gigs, something I plan to resolve as soon as they come to Istanbul.
