These 2 songs from other Ricky Tick artists were waiting to be posted and after today’s Astro Can Caravan it’s time. First one is off sax player Timo Lassy’s 2007 album The Soul & Jazz of Timo Lassy. He’s a member on the roster of Jimi Tenor’s live band, as well as yes you guessed it right Helsinki supergroup The Five Corners Quintet which our second selection comes off.

This month on Tru Thoughts we see Nostalgia 77’s Benedic Lamdin and Riaan Voslo work together with legendary Brit soul / jazzers Keith and Julie Tippett. If you’re a regular here at undomondo you should be familiar with Nostalgia 77’s past work, which won him the John Peel Play More Jazz Award at the BBC Worldwide Awards. His infectious horn driven nujazz tunes take from blues, jazz and soul equally, but the thing that makes us wonder is how he can always write the best melodies.

Another Tru Thoughts release, this time from last month is by Kinny. Her track is not necessarily nujazz but her modern take on soul is too good to be missed and it has the added bonus of having Nostalgia 77’s horn section. Her debut “Idle Forest of Chit Chat” is just out yet she’s worked with producers like Hint and Diesler before, although I seem to remember her from her vocal work on Espen Horne’s rework of the classic “Ain’t no Sunshine”. In depth review by Jus’ Like Music.

Found this tune by the British Indian clarinettist Arun Ghosh on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Bubblers Three. This ethnic melody is too good to resist and not too much drenched in this modern Indian electronic/jazz thing, which can get quite plastic easily.

The closer is Christian Prommer’s remix of The Dining Rooms‘ Fatale out on the Dining Rooms remix album “Other Ink“. Unlike his most successful Drumlesson album of last year which saw dance/house hits remade in nujazz, this one is a driving electro tech house remix by the man.
