Let’s start off the week with a five song indie rock / folk selection:

+ Bon Iver’s autotunous single “Woods” is like that girl you see in your block, which looks like an ugly boy one day and a supermodel the next. Can’t guarantee you’ll like it but the autotuned “I’m up in the woods/ I’m down on my mind” lyrics are etched to my mind right now.

+ Dame Satan’s music is as good as the name. Beaches & Bridges was a great album that deserved a little bit of the audience Fleet Foxes got last year, thanks to the network effect it didn’t happen. There are great songs on this one and one of them is “The Struggle”.

+ Boston’s Cas Kaplan contacted us with the debut of his band Day Sleeper. Drop your Sword has shoegaze, elementary math rock, fuzz rock and hippie folk in it. In this time where you can’t listen to an indie rock album from the start to finish, this is a surprising non-skipper. Check them out and be the first ones to brag about ‘em.

The Uncomfortables are a 5-piece high-energy, highly charismatic indie rock band from west Lancashire, England.” They’ve got a new single out and will be performing at the Glastonbury emerging talent this year. These guys can craft memorable indie pop songs.

Wavves – Part 3 by Yours Truly from Yours Truly on Vimeo.

Wavves‘ Here’s to the Sun is a great pop song with distorted as hell but melodic fuzz guitars. I can never be sure if their attitude is authentic or pretentious. Back to the old argument at the start of the post. Don’t forget to check our video tumblr which has lots of videos like the Wavves one up above, though.
