Isn’t it amazing that it’s year 2008, and there are still some simple names to claim, such as this Canadian indie pop quartet named Women. Their self titled on Chad VanGaalen’s Flemish Eye Recordings is a 30 min (is this a new trend thanks to our shortening attention spans?) trip through psychedelia and jangling post-punk pop scapes. Highlight of the album is the shoegaze twee pop of Black Rice yet there are only a few misses on the whole (more would be unacceptable anyways!). They are now signed to Jagjaguwar and they’ll be touring UK with Chad VanGaalen in November.
