Recloose

Guess what, Detroit native Matthew Chicoine aka Recloose’s third album is out on Sonar Kollektiv, and no one on the blogosphere is talking about it according to hype machine. After a successful debut on Carl Craig’s Planet E and a sophomore on Peacefrog featuring the single Dust which was even featured on mainstream dance compilations, I thought his third offering would be making enough buzz that it didn’t need a shoulder from us. Yet, I was wrong!?, or perhaps the blogs aren’t the best place to look for this kind of music..

His idiosyncratic blend of electronic music with elements of soul, funk, house with driving brass and percussion is what made Dust an instant anthem and on Perfect Timing we see Recloose covering all flavours of the soul scala with due help from vocal talents of Fat Freddy’s Drop vocalist Jon Dukie, Tyna and others. Contemporary funk & house music for the urban soulistas, it appeals to a wide range of audience on the dancefloor or for home listening. Not groundbreaking stuff but with instant rewards, perfect for fans of Herbert, Moodymann and Jazzanova, I bet you’ll be singing along to some of these tunes in no time.

Order Perfect Timing from Boomkat or get it as MP3 directly from Sonar Kollektiv.
Recloose on Myspace (more songs for grabs)
Check his blog for the weekly Recloose podcast (thnx, Ali)

Shame on us bloggers, it's been on heavy rotation here since the day of its release (as all Recloose albums had been). Let's see if I can find the time to write about it. Btw, great pic ;O)
