well, I love Les Baxter as well, but I didn't know “Quiet Village” was originally his, another man to look for is Sonny Lester, not quite the tiki-exotica but quite an interesting artist. Thanks for the comment!

Although Martin Denny hit it big with "Quiet Village" and Exotica, no one really credits Les Baxter (who wrote "Quiet Village" in 1951) with starting off Exotica. Everyone seems to think Denny set it off, and although he is great few realize that Baxter did a lot of pioneering (Aphex Twin called him a "Right Weirdo"). Thanks for posting the tracks!
