We went to see Rune Grammofon’s avantjazzmetal combo Shining yesterday night. I had heard that they pack a punch at their shows. They were very loud indeed. When the guitars kicked in during their opener Winterreise, I thought my ears were bleeding. The sound system was pretty loud as well and being on a wednesday night not more than 100 people showed up, that means more db/person for your ears. The sax/whatever guy is really phenomenal, and the bass player was kinda scary. Anyways, that was a pretty good show, it would have been better to see them on a big stage like the video down below, I’m sure the music would be better heard that way, not very suitable for small venues with big sound systems. They closed their set with King Crimson’s 21st Century Schizoid Man, duly noted by my partner in crime error101. Thanks to the sponsors of the event Bant Magazine as well. More photos.
PS : Just found out that this post marks our 600th.
