White Magic - Dark Stars

The White Magic faerie Mira Billotte and co. released an EP on Drag City in October which I found out about while checking out the old Aquarius Records newsletters I had in my inbox and seriously I can only justify the 2 months lag by saying that “I must have been totally messed up by the day job I had”.
It’s a world renowned fact that White Magic is the best thing to happen to the music world (and I’m not the only one saying it since they’re now the support act for Sonic Youth), redefining the word “unconventional” with their songwriting. No worries on Dark Stars, since the tradition continues here as well : A minimalistic approach to songwriting, based on Billotte’s recursive piano patterns and enchanting voice, Jim White’s hypnotic drumming. After a few listens of the 21 minute EP right now I’m craving for a few more songs like a junkie. I was hooked on the psychedelic opener `Shine on Heaven` in the beginning, but right now I’ve passed that phase and it’s Poor Harold now, the song I didn’t like as much in the beginning. Can’t stop her voice in my head that goes :
“Poor Harold works all night works in the graveyard right next to my school/Poor Harold works all night digging graves, digging graves!”. I mean seriously!
