Slow Six

excerpt from Echolalic Transitions

Six piece Brooklyn avant-classical ensemble appropriately titled Slow Six has a new record out called Nor’easter on the contemporary classical label New Albion.

Nor’easter has 6 long electro-acoustic compositions, with violins, viola, ‘cello, electric guitars, fender rhodes, piano, and software instruments combined to create an immersive instrumental soundscape. Nor’easter is slow, drony and meditative but not monotonous at all, it takes as much from the modern electronic ambient and post-rock ethos as it takes from orchestral chamber music. Recommended.
