Today is the day for unconventional indie bandnames!
Sorry No Ferrari’s The Get Down Syndrome is instrumental math-rock with complex riffs & sign changes, just the way we like our rock (and our math!). They’re a relatively young band from the USA (where else?) and these 2 songs are from their second EP released on StickFigure Distro, you can get this 5 tracker for $4, and you can also get their debut album on Alaska Records for 5$. Their cover of the notorious dance hit “Axel F” is over the top, but their own compositions rock even more, watch this band.
Our second band is from Mesa, Arizona. The Morning Kennedy Was Shot’s Pictures of Things Worth Looking At is also a 5 tracker. Coming from Arizona it’s pretty natural that they have a song named “The Desert” and a sound that’s parallel with desert stoner rock and a bit of psychedelia. The added bonus of keys enrich the music but make it a little bit emoish on some songs, thanks also to the vocals. There’s some great riffs and magical moments here on this debut release but it might have benefitted from some additional ideas by a producer. Oh well there’ll surely be a remaster someday because I’m pretty confident in that they’ll be noticed soon inside the 2007 mediocre indie-boom.
