There’s a rising trend in dance music for the last few years, and it’s now safe to say disco is back, at least in europe, and mostly thanks to re-edits. Of course the nu-disco scene in USA has been flowering for years, with the likes of Metro Area, Daniel Wang & Kelley Polar but re-edits of prog/kraut bands like Alan Parsons Project? Amon Düül or old Italo Disco? that’s a different story and behind it are the evil disco boys of D-I-R-T-Y from France, who are going to premiere their Dirty Space Disco compilation on Tigersushi with the legendary Cosmic Disco DJ Daniele Baldelli at the Vilette Sonique Festival.

D-I-R-T-Y guys are not the only ones doing re-edits of course, there’s a whole slew of artists like the king Tangoterje Barna Sound Machine, the Sa-Ra Collective, Sasso, Otterman Empire, Freaky Funk, The Delicate Genius, DJ Harvey, Krikor1 and more, there’s a thread on ILX that calls them bearded disco, but most of the vinyls are either bootleg or too limited so they’re very hard to find. Best places to look for them would be the blogs bumrocks and lovefingers, and the D-I-R-T-Y collective blog Alainfinkielkrautrock, and of course the record shops Fatcity or Piccadilly are always a source for the soulful.
