Agitation Free

We’re living in this silly little modern world, where indie is the new pop, folk is the new black and prog is the new alternative. The fact for instance, that an old song by Mogollar (Les Moguls) is the official Playstation 3 ad shows how people are returning to roots more and more each day. I’m not saying that we should all burn our clothes and sit on trees, god knows i love my showers and free parfume samples, but i presume this ascent of roots is an aspect of a search or reminiscence of what is human in times we need humanity so much and considering the possible continuity of this ascent of roots, i hope this eventually will have positive social consequences and maybe to some degree, help us get rid of this plasticity we’re living in. I’m not getting my hopes up but hey, it’s a more reasonable resolution than waiting for your lotto ticket to hit the jackpot:)

Anyways, here are the nominees for this week’s grandpa prog awards…For some heavy Hammond in action, i present you Aardvark from Deram records the Mecca of UK prog. The other nominee is some more steaming Hammond act, an avant-rock/prog band Agitation Free. Although they lost guitarist Axel Genrich to Guru Guru in 1970 and drummer Christopher Franke to Tangerine Dream in 1971, they performed at the 1972 Munich Olympics. Final nominee is Aktuala, an Italian ethnic/avant-garde/prog band from ‘72, whose two members Vaccina and Laura Maioli went on to collaborate with tabla master Trilok Gurtu later.

Aardvark - The Greencap
Aktuala - Alef’s Dance
Aktuala - Sarah Ngwega
Agitation Free - Ala Tul
