Hey-O-Hansen

in all times and places is creation
in all times and places is death
when we strive after the good or the beautiful
we forget our own nature
no one man shall be superior to the others
every man may come to himself and avoid slavery

each must go to its own place
in this world
is man
abraxas
the creator and the destroyer of his own world
small and transistory is men
you find yourselves in endless space
in all times and places is creation
in all times and places is death

I was going to let “Abraxas” slip with only these lyrics, but then I decided I shouldn’t keep my trap shut about Hey-O-Hansen. These lyrics are taken from Carl Gustav Jung’s ‘Septem Sermones ad Mortuos‘ and wow how much more inspirational can they be!. The ending melody is remarkably similiar to Kode 9’s “9 Samurai“, maybe they’re both a reference to another music I don’t know but even Boomkat mentioned the similarity.

Hey-O-Hansen is a three piece Berlin outfit, that name their style Berlin-Afro-Alpin-Dubstep-Killersound, the second song “Moon” is from 2005, an electronic Balkanfolk dancer, which carved the name to my head that resulted in me jumping on this album which includes their singles from the last years. The eclectic collective is supported by a host of co-musicians like Eiríkur Orri from Múm and interesting voice talents of Mariano Rajoy (leader of the opposition and of the conservative Popular Party in Spain), Mustapha Nabli (regional chief economist and director of social and economic development in the World Bank’s Middle East and North Africa region).
