I’ve been pretty slow on doing this for some reason so it’s a dual month coverage for now. Here are some of the better pieces that has come to my mailbox. First up is a funny bloke from Australia Mr. Tim Shiel, aka Faux Pas, putting fun back in electronica via sample plunderphonics and eclectic melodies, reminded me of Stephane Obadia and some others whose names escape me but in an era where everybody wants to be fragile and emo, it’s good to be havin’ fun. He’s played a JJJ set recently. What’s more he was kind enough to condense this 60 minute set to 7 minutes not to steal our time, because we’ve got so much stuff to listen to these days, yet ironically he’s put anagrams of the artists in the tracklist!!. Did I mention he was funny? Stylus review.
Another name I planned to feature on undomondo since a year back is the french electronica artist Klimperei. He’s the ultimate creator of children’s music, toy pianos, waltzes, strange percussive devices, lovely guitar melodies, unfortunately I’ve only heard snippets of his work, hopefully will get a CD soon and post some full tracks. He’s got a new CD out called Galipoche & Chipiron now on Jardinaufou
The remaining artists are all indie pop/rock albums. First one is a complete 8 track EP from The Antlers, that is Mr. Peter Silberman, make some donations to him if you wanna pay for the bandwidth, he’s already been reviewed by CMJ and Pop Tarts, and shows us that alternative marketing strategies are working great.
The Cripple Lilies also have their album streamable from their site. indie with folk and alt.country tinges and there’s also a piano!. I’ve chosen one track from the album and they kindly supplied us with it.
Bad Jamie is a good band from Boston according to them, they’ve sent us a really funny PR mail and although I’m not really interested in straightforward rock, this song Molly’s Alright is pretty catchy.
