Lovely work by Mary Allen Mark of The Art Dept.

Slow start with The Tree People’s self titled folk effort on Tiliqua and then a great song by Helsinki natives Korpi Ensemble which effortlessly fuse jazz and folk into pop sensibilities. We continue with a song with a taster of Feist’s new album The oReminder, followed by our favourite southern rockers Kings of Leon with an outstanding drum performance. This part ends with the Finnish humppa stars Eläkeläiset covering a well known Queen song.

The second part starts up with a huge mashup edit of a Missy Elliot’s “Work It” by Young Dog Alien, alias of disco dj Greg Wilson, and continues into Sa-Ra Collective’s Hollywood on Ubiquity. The urban attack continues with a track from Owusu & Hannibal’s debut CD once again on Ubiquity and Mike Gao’s dub inspired downbeat tune. This part ends with a funny as hell Cassetteboy plunderphonics opus, listen carefully!.

The last part has some jazz tint with Tzadik power trio Rashanim’s jewish surf jazz song (which was on last years’ Shalosh which should be an essential part of everyone’s music collection which develops into a song by the retro surf/spy music legends Laika & The Cosmonauts. The next track is by 60’s Caribbean star Lancelot Layne which comes from a lovely compilation called “Jeff Recordings” on “Crippled Dick Hot Wax“, and ends with a special jazz piece.
