Men-an-Tol’s Static Caravan release of 200 pieces just sold out but thanks to internet I’ve gotten hold of this 4 tracker, and believe me this is golden. I don’t know if I feel this way because I used to be a fool for Irish folk music back in the day, but it took me only 3 seconds to go mad after listening to their opener of the same name.

For all those not in the know (like me) Men-an-Tol is a megalithic stone from Cornwall, UK and these guys are described by the label as a ‘freak fucked Misanthopic Watersons‘!. They look like modern day English hippies for sure but their music goes back to medieval times. If you like Tunng, I’m sure you’ll be craving for more songs and checking their myspace or hunt for their possible back catalogue, because I want more ! MORE GODDAMIT! and also, Hi Static Caravan I totally love your label!

Edit: I can’t stop loving this band, their foot stomping, straightforward, melodic, singalong folk is easily the best release of this year for me. Great guitar melodies and if you have a nice connection download the video and see them in person, singing more songs that aren’t present on their album. I’m a fanboy now I guess.
