As opposed to CocoRosie, The Pierces is a very nice example of being sisters, having a non-mainstream past and an interest in music and yet wear attractive clothes and sing without frightening anyone/make them want to die. The sisters hail from Alabama and have quite an interesting and funny profile on myspace . Sounding less witchy than CocoRosie does not seem to be their only talent though; nicely written lyrics, quite harmonic tracks and a very suitable sassy cabaret attitude catches the ear and the eye. The revolver photoshoot might indicate that the folk starlets are trying to boost a career supported with a tiny bit of flesh marketing, but I can’t deny it looks good. They also have a video in which they wear short skirts n’ high heels and touch each other (another indication?)

First, their webpage does not include any info except that the duo is touring with Albert Hammond Jr. Second, I learned that the guy was the Strokes’ secondman (I don’t tend to learn secondmen’s names except for metal bands from the early 90’s ). Third, apparently one of the sisters is engaged to the guy. Then I learned that there were rumors about the stroke and demigoddess Kate Moss. Well, here I present you songs of a duo which has a member who’s engaged to a rock celebrity who had rumors with Kate Moss:

The Pierces – Boy in a Rock’n'Roll Band
The Pierces – Go to Heaven

I think that The Pierces are awesome. I actually found a bunch of interviews with them and maybe people should check them out to give them a chance.

lol. I'm sorry but I have to agree with the past comments, I couldn't find any point in common with cocorosie and I wasn't excited about them either.
  • I suppose , altough tongue-in-cheek, the comparison with cocorosie wasn't necessary. This sounded like radio friendly US rock to me ;)

I came here via Moistworks. I have to say that the Pierces seem ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. while CocoRosie might be annoying, at least they aren't schmaltzy smutty middle of the road bullshit.
