Kanka : Alert

Let me tell you first that I began to laugh instantly after I saw the name of the artist, why? Because “Kanka” is a funny (sometimes shady) way of saying bro in Turkish slang, which literally is the first letters of Blood Brother mashed together. But then seeing the artist is from France, I thought maybe he might have had Turkish friends who called him that way, or maybe it means some other thing in another language, not sure!

Previous album “Don’t stop the Dub” was also released on the French dub label Hammerbass and it was widely acclaimed. Kanka is playing all instruments on this one teaming up with Brixton MC BROTHER CULTURE on 3 songs. Characterized by a huge subbass and simple but majestic brass melodies, I decided to call this Imperial Dub (or Majestic) , dunno if that term’s been coined yet, but it would suit this music so much. 12 songs on “Alert”, the top 2 songs I’m featuring are from the new album, the others are from the previous album.

    i already have his album "don't stop dub" , I'm amazed by these sounds and vocals , just wondering why shitty artists stay on the top 40 while good music like this no body heard of b4 ..

    Or maybe he was a turkish man from the future in a past life, or maybe his name is aknak but he decided to spell it backwards to be goofy... ;-P
