A fantastic new album on Rykodisc is upon us, and the creator is no other than the Ex-Cibo Matto lead singer Miha Hatori.Cibo Matto was described as “They are like bluebirds collecting random bits of twigs, string and gummy worms to build a magnificent nest from which to sing their beautiful songs.” on an interview and this description is suitable for Ecdysis‘ eclectic sound as well.

She takes a lot from Japanese culture and J-Pop, definitely New York City, jazz and electronica. If you liked 8 doogymoto on Herbert’s Soundslike, Hanne Hukkelberg, or Lina Nyberg, you should be cool with this stuff. Intimate, colorful music with dreamlike psychedelic elements and melodies, fantastic moods and romance (without any pretentiousness). I wouldn’t dare to call this feminine music, but it seems it could only be created by a female, or a childlike innocence.

Miho has also collaborated with artists like Beastie Boys, Gorillaz and Handsome Boy Modeling School in the past.
