House Mix November Part 2

We’ll begin the second part of this 3 part mix with the overlooked Re:Jazz remix compilation from 2004. The first track by one of my favourite artists Nicola Conte, is a classic Conte song with uptempo bass and bossanova, and as if it wasn’t enough there’s another delicious remix by RAS, which has a chunky almost stop-motion beat, so much quality and character in this tune and the wah-guitar melody is definitely top-notch. This album also includes remixes by Akufen (which I would have loved to feature here as well), Jazztronik, Bugge Wesseltoft, Swell Session, yes it’s the who’s who of modern jazzy lounge/dance music. I’m pretty sure you can find it in some bargain bin, because it’s from 2004. Here’s a more in depth track by track review by Pop Matters.
The next 3 tracks are not from compilations, but from individual vinyls. If you know the stripped down oldschool NY garage sound of JoVonn you won’t be surprised by this track, but if you’re not, prepare to be. Complete with the vibes solo at the end and the whispering vocals, this is the essence of the NY sound.

Meanwhile UK’s Bah Samba is also strengthening their name in the dance scene, a remix by NYC’s Syam Music and Quentin Harris takes this 12″ to the not-to-be-missed status. Syam’s version has a groovy disco bass & melancholic keys and a lovely female vocal with a catchy jazzy vibe, that goes “Don’t stop Tiny Feet” that paralysed me the first time I heard it. The second tune “Tired Little One (Yoruba Soul Vocal)” gets the Yoruba treatment by Osunlade, as the regular readers of undomondo would know, one of my favourite house producers. Soulful, with a very deep and moving sub-bass, a groovy guitar and incredible vocals. (I know I’m out of adjectives!)
