Weekly Reblog 10.11

Here’s a new feature, thanks to the wonderful reblog software. I’m using reblog to tend to my mp3blog readership. I’ll be publishing a weekly reblog post featuring the best stuff I found on blogs that week, although if you don’t wanna wait for the weekly update, you can subscribe to the reblog feed, although it’s subject to constant adding and deleting and usage, so beware.

* First Nation – Paw Tracks : Review by Thermostat/Cyclic Defrost. This album needs more attendance, featured back here.

The awe inspiring Moondog, which I’ve come to know thanks to Prog not Frog. Moondog and H’art Songs are from 1969 and 79 respectively. He’s such a figure; a blind singer-songwriter who lived in NYC streets during the 50’s.

* Christian Marclay – More Encores (1987-88) on Orang Aural. “Each piece is composed entirely of records after whom each track is titled. John Cage is a recording of a collage made by cutting slices from several records and gluing them back into a single disc. On the other pieces here the records were mixed and manipulated on multiple turntables and recorded analogue with the use of overdubbing. A hand-crank gramophone was used on Louis Armstrong.

* Derek Bailey & Cyro Baptista – Cyro (1982) on Orang Aural. Bailey on guitars & Baptista on percussion and all kinds of noise. Experimental improv jazz stuff, highly recommended.

* Lindstroem & Prins Thomas Live via music is the answer. 2 part live set by upcoming nudisco & electronic house stars.

* Horace Silver – Silver & Wood on Orgy in Rhythm. Legendary jazz pianist Horace Silver’s Quintet performing with 8 brass players.

* Wow, what a post, a full Beirut live show on Mocking Music and “Elephant Gun” on Said the Gramophone.

* Nice form from cliptip giving us all these killer videos. Kelis’ new video Blindfold me ,Band of Horses – Great Salt Lake, Gnarls Barkley Gone Daddy Gone Video.

* Canada’s Les Breastfeeders on False 45th. Quick paced pop-punk with a good deal of distortion and fun.
