If everything’s gone right, you’ll be seeing this post and we’re hopefully in Prague.
Hadouk Trio is the brain child of Didier Malherbe and Loy Ehrlich with percussionist Steve Shehan. All three are multi instrumentalists, and the music sounds very rich and the instruments are warm, especially the Dodouk (from which the second part of the word Hadouk comes from) is ultra warm, the percussionist Shehan plays with other artists like Dylan and Paul Simon, and his percussion is never in front but his touches add so much to the music and the bass like instrument Hajouj is played by Ehrlich masterfully.
If you like the European ethnic-jazz sound, a la Romano/Sclavis/Texier or enjoyed the clarinet sound on the Klezmeyers, you’re in for a adventurous mixture of both sounds.
Also don’t forget to catch the Hadouk Trio with Daevid Allen’s legendary band Gong, (whose New York Gong album has been featured here previously) on 3-5 Nov – Amsterdam, Melkweg, 2006 Gong Unconvention
