One of Detroit’s finest exports Jay Dee aka J Dilla has been one of the most important hiphop producers through 90s and 00s, working with people from Pharcyde to Dela Soul to Q-Tip and Erykah Badu and more. His untimely and unfortunate death in February 2006 put an end to his career but with his mothers’ and friends’ efforts, his last album “The Shining” has been completed and released a few days ago. The guestlist includes artists like Madlib who is the other half of the Jaylib project, Common, Guilty Simpson, Black Thought and Busta Rhymes. Terrific album already starting to get rave reviews around the music scene. I particularly liked the one with Madlib and Common but all the tracks are soulful and has the jazzy tinge. Not much to say but R.I.P to Jay Dilla another underground legend who went too early.
