I’ve known about the Australian post-jazz trio Triosk before from a collaboration with one of my favourite electronic artists Jan Jelinek. That was a good effort of collaboration that shows how you can collaborate in todays world even if you’re thousands of miles away. However I remember that I thought it wasn’t as spectacular as I hoped it would be. Basically the time between that album and today, I have forgotten about Triosk. However with a nice reminder from Leaf, I know think that I have been missing out on them. Post-jazz is a pseudo term I made up a few mins ago, (although it’s probably made up by other people already.) anyways what I mean by post-jazz is, Triosk sound especially on Visions IV, is jazz music that has the climaxing tendency of post-rock with rich texture and emotion. The drum part at the end is really powerful, and in a way if you liked Fahir Atakoglu Trio’s If we featured on undomondo a while ago, this is a similar jazz fusion without the clearer and more precise work of Fahir’s trio but with more emotion and power in some parts. All in all, I hope to listen to more tracks from Triosk and I hope think the album is as good as the opener.

On a sidenote , I checked on Leaf’s audio page, (which features a huge list of freetracks if you haven’t seen it) and I think one of the key artists I still haven’t featured here is Hanne Hukkelberg (and I’ve featured most of the artists on Leaf without a conscious inclination.) She has a graceful voice and her songs are little personal tales, in a way reminding me of Dani Siciliano without Herbert and Lina Nyberg (especially Saragasso on Moserobie) and also not far from twee-pop of P:ano and Architecture in Helsinki (should we call this music gentle pop?). I thought it was unfortunate that Leaf didn’t feature her best song imo “Do not as I do” but fear not
because Comfort Music featured her recently and you should definitely get that song as well!
