Here’s the second part of the netlabel report. I fixed a small issue with comments so it’s commentable once again, and I’m hoping the recent lack of comments were because of that :).
Minimal Techno & Dub
Caleb Fox – Amnxio .
Nika Japaridze – Traginew
Nika Japaridze – Fireworks
Emmerichk – Frandalanke (Bifidus Broken Heart Dub)
Emmerichk – Morontia
Pablo Akaros – Codigo de Barras
Very deep kick and lush pads on Caleb Fox’s debut on Mmmph Music and 2 shuffle tracks from Nika Japaridze on Rest. This is some creative stuff, there’s a lovely bass on Fireworks and this boy from Tbilisi, Georgia surely knows how to write melodies that can separate his tunes from the rest of the pack. More tunes on myspace. From Georgia we go to Mexico and South America, Filtro netlabel from Mexico, which occasionally features stuff from Fax constantly releases good minimal house/dub with rhythmic blips. Good deep stuff from Emmerichk and a lovely remix by Bifidus who also has a track on Filtro15 compilation Bitflow.
Other
Vernon Lenoir – Balkan Specialitaeten
Kryptic Universe – jazzyllusions
Osso – É esta a Cidade do Mel e da Violência
Lemur – Cell’s Cleavage
Vernon Lenoir’s Balkan Spezialitaeten on WM Recordings is definitely my top recommendation from this pack. This is a highly enjoyable journey through 12 different Balkan songs and styles, sampled and micromixed with care by Vernon Lenoir. So much fun. Other than that here’s 2 releases worth downloading from Portugal’s Merzbau netlabel, Osso’s “É esta a Cidade do Mel e da Violência”, has a dark throbbing bass, and some dark ambience, conjuring an image of human sacrifice rituals in Pre-historic times, while Lemur has an instrumental / post-rock stuff without the textural work by most of the post-rock artists, the guitar tones need some more work, but all in all it’s a nice song.
