I’ve been lacking on the netlabel front for a few months. Today I sorted through my netlabel directory and came up with some recommendation. For easier following I’ve loosely grouped them according to their genres. Here’s an electronica and drone compilation.

Some good stuff all around, Akira Kosemura has dreamy ambient scenes with plenty of water and green fields for his debut EP on Monotonik called In a Distant Forest Somewhere . Beautifully done, check out June for a day near the waterfalls with bambi. Meanwhile, This mess is mine presents The weekend EP on Aerotone 03 which is Twee-Electronica-pop with rhodes & guitars by Lars Kranholdt.
Australian electronica artist Tim Koch returns to Monotonik for Elk Meadow EP I wasn’t really into Tim Koch’s music prior to listening to this EP, but this is some quality stuff. Especially (B) Ramon, a chopped and modded acoustic guitar loop made into something glitchy and beautiful. One of the best netlabel releases of 2006 i s’pose. Then there’s the Draumar Um Kalt Sumar compilation on Lithuanian Sutemos. Plenty of downtempo electronica, including well known names like ISAN, Galaktlan, Am-boy, Yagya, Mind over Midi, Norman Fairbanks.
Here are also some drone/noise works on Statisfield. First up is Thanos Chrysakis‘ Elixir Sonóre. Impressive drone work. Another EP out on Test Tube. Then C. Rosenau, Jim Schoenecker, Thomas Wincek’s Gie him strong drink until he wink.. which is a 16 minute drone/noise journey in light with rich sonic textures. Last is Malaysian Artist Mr. Goh Lee Kwang’s SF-4008 : Radiowave which are microworlds derived from Radiowaves and other noises.
