Venetian Snares

I admit, I have never been a fan of Venetian Snares. I’m not too keen on breakcore as well, as most of the times, the object of breakcore has been to be fast and hardcore, lacking ideas and music most of all. But a few years ago I listened to VS’ Twelve, the infamous remix to Sesame Street‘s world-famous song. (Even it’s Turkish version was famous as well) and that was a greaaaaaat song, and I’ve always thought that breakcore, while theoretically being a fertile genre, has not produced many notable songs. (like Goa Trance ;) )

Anyways Snares’ new album “Cavalcade of Glee and Dadaist Happy Hardcore Pom Poms” on Planet Mu is upon us and it’s basically madly shifting beats & time signatures & effects again. After some more listens though I really liked a few songs, in fact I had a hard time choosing which songs to feature here but settled on two after all.

A generous media page on a Venetian Snares fansite. Here is around 20 videosand a multitude of audio files including live stuff. It said don’t hotlink so I didn’t!
Venetian Snares – Twelve
Venetian Snares – Donuts
Venetian Snares – Tache

Aaron Funk, V Snares...is the best thing since sliced bread. Apex Twin had a ADD hyperractive macabe babby and its name is Venetian Snares.
  • Well, it takes some time to get into his insane hyper speed testosterone freakcore electrojazz. But he is a genius on his own thing, and I love it. Too bad he don´t make perfect songs, if he would have some more patience and self critique he would make even better albums, but I quess that approach dosen´t fit into his mad mind and workflow.
