Ok, I admit I’m just over 25, and I haven’t watched / listened to any Gong stuff before, and if it weren’t for this remaster on Charly of the 1979 Daevid Allen classic, I probably wouldn’t have at all. You see, there’s so much shit on MTV/music mags etc. we tend to think good albums only last for about 2 months and music has always been as hollow and provisional as this, but then you come upon gems like this that has stood the test of time for over 25 years, and it’s fresher than most of the shit that’s being done today, you begin to chant “I hate mall-rock, teen-punk, mtv cribs hiphop, and sex pop” over and over again, until you pass out..
No need to tell anything about this psychedelia and new wave infused post-punk record, that’s post-punk before there was punk even! Talk about being a visionary!!.. Featuring a young Bill Laswell on bass..
Please comment and lead me to other nice Gong stuff if you know about it ok?
