New Myspace folks!

Elizabeth Sakura’s guitar based indie pop (downer?) is impressive, the first two songs kinda got stuck in my head, and instinctively I knew the music has some nice potential and frankness. BTW She’s from NY, and she seems to be interested in misery ?

Elizabeth Sakura – A girl named misery
Elizabeth Sakura – Flamenco Rondo in D

Grangulez is a Turkish indie group from Ankara. Nice instrumental indie stuff that may appeal to some people
The song Bili has some tempo changes, and nice spacey instrumentation.

Grangulez – Live on Letterman
Grangulez – Bili

The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble has released their debut on Planet Mu recently. They have slow & subtle ominous ambience as a background and also mix trombone & cello as instruments. Weird but nice combination, no wonder mr. Paradinas signed them!. 3 songs available albeit no downloads, Here’s a better review than mine, as always on the wonderful Thermostat blog

Buy & sample from Midheaven Mailorder

and also here’s the myspace of Planet Mu records. It’s kinda like a hub because only the artists are added, and also there’s this song by Pinch called Qawwali Dub, which I like a lot, and kinda thought of posting about. Strange minimal dubby stuff.

Here’s the aQuarius Records myspace page, which is an influential and strictly underground record store / mail order in San Francisco.

Then there’s Avia Gardner, which is an obvious wordplay on Ava Gardner. The duo is composed of Mitchell Akiyama and Jenna Robertson. If you are familiar with Akiyama’s densely textural music, you’ll like Avia Gardner. This is more emotional and folkish than his solo albums. Rich textures of sounds and a female vocalist. What more? They’ve released an album on Intr_Version late last year or this year? not sure..

Bruce Haack is long dead, but his myspace page lives on, and it has some news for Haack fans. Haack : The King of Techno documentary is playing on the documentary channel now. But you can always go and buy it here. Which I may in a few minutes.

and closing up with experimental stuff again from The Focus Group and indie rock from Minmae. I loved the last Focus Group album and it would have been perfect if they had the song “Hey let loose your love” for sample on myspace, check them both out.

The Focus Group – Monkeybeat
The Focus Group – Louisville
Minmae – To edit quickfingerz
Minmae – Cash out or spin
