A short thematical post about Kilos today. I’m not too big on mainstream/gangsta hiphop but I like to take a healthy dose sometimes, enter Ghostface Killah‘s new album. This track is THE shit, groovy wah wah guitars, a funky bassline, Ghostface and guest Raekwon the Chef from Wu-Tang Clan. This is roots hiphop, the real funky groovy hiphop that we all come to love and the ingenious chorus “A kilo is a thousand grams, easy to remember!” is sure to get stuck in our heads.

The other track that sprang to my mind right after I listened to this was the aptly titled `72 Kilos` by Keziah Jones. His 2003 album Black Orpheus was a great album for me and this is a funny song from that album. Keziah is out to get 72 Kilos of Nigerian weed, and if you remember the previous songs a Kilo is a thousand grams. Do the math !
