Journey into Obscureville

Shame on me for taking so long to write a post :(
Sorry, I’ve been meaning to post these for some time but fortunately the lost time is not so important, since these are already yesterday’s news. These gems from the space-age bachelor pad music era are taken from Re/Search’s Incredibly Strange Music, vol.1. The compilation and the same-titled book (not to mention vol.2) shines a light on this era of music which nowadays, you can only see in garage sales or funny record cover galleries online…a crazy fun era of singing cops, polka playing priests, undertakers, religious ventriloquists, astronauts, opera-singing parrots, beatniks, hippies and gospel singing blind teenage girls with bouffant hairdos. Here are some pieces and reinvented popular classicals for obscure fans out there.
Buddy Merrill -Busy Bee
Dave Harris - Dinner Music for a pack of hungry cannibals
Joe Ann Castle - Tico Tico
Harry Breuer - Minute Merengue
