As opposed to Kadirizm, Mcluskyism is actually a good thing. I think I first read about them in a review on Buddyhead, after they had disbanded :(, since then I have been feeling sorry about it. Their 2006 album released after Mclusky is no more, is supposed to be a best of album of this nearly-cult band.
Pitchfork’s Matt Le May called them “asshole indie rock“– direct, obnoxious, and unapologetic, and they already have a t-shirt called “Mclusky, shit rock”. This Welsh trio has a bit of Shellac and Fugazi in it, and I don’t know why but a little bit of Suicidal Tendencies and perhaps Nirvana? (or is that Steve Albini?). I really liked their hostile attitude and their goofy lyrics too, it’s fun and sincere and not pretentious and crap like most of the trendy indie rock we get these days.
An incredible bootleg videos site where you can download 7 live Mclusky performances encoded in .avi, also live videos from Nirvana, Frenzal Rhomb, Jebediah, Dandy Warhols and more..
